Bird Walk

Saturday: Wild Birds Unlimited, in conjunction with the Klamath Bird Observatory will offer a free bird walk to view

the biological diversity of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. The Monument is a bird haven, with more than

200 species identified, including the peregrine falcon and the willow flycatcher. The walk will involve moderate hiking.

The group will meet at 8 a.m. at Wild Birds Unlimited, 712 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.

July 21: An easy five-mile hike along the Illinois River is planned. There is one mile of uphill walking. Meet at Ray's in Selma at 9 a.m.

Lithia Park Hikes

Each Sunday, Wednesday and Friday through Sept. 30 naturalists from the Ashland Parks and Recreation

Department will lead an easy, 11/2-hour free nature walk through Lithia Park, rain or shine. Topics include:

Trees, flowers, birds, climate, water, geology and the history of the park. Participants meet at 10 a.m.
